What is pimping and pandering?

Pimping and pandering are criminal offenses related to the act of facilitating prostitution.

Pimping involves the act of promoting or facilitating prostitution by procuring clients for sex workers, usually in exchange for a portion of the earnings. Pimps may also provide a place for sex work to take place, arrange transportation for sex workers, or handle marketing and other logistical aspects of the sex work operation.

Pandering, on the other hand, involves the act of soliciting clients for prostitution, either on behalf of a sex worker or for profit. This can involve actively recruiting clients for sex work, advertising sexual services, or otherwise promoting and facilitating the exchange of sex for money.

Both pimping and pandering are illegal in most jurisdictions and are considered serious crimes. They are often prosecuted as felony offenses and can result in significant penalties, including jail time, fines, and registration as a sex offender. Additionally, those convicted of pimping or pandering may face social stigma and other consequences that can have long-term impacts on their lives and livelihoods.
